Suggestion 199. Hold review sessions before the exam

IF YOU WANT TO:

YOU MAY WISH TO CONSIDER:

Holding review sessions both before the midterm and the final exam.

Many excellent teachers hold reviews in all of their undergraduate courses, but it is especially important in lower-division courses where many students are still unsure about the performance levels expected of them.

"Many freshmen and transfer students have not really developed good study skills," says one humanities teacher. "Furthermore, because many of them realize or suspect this, their anxiety level is especially high when they enter the University. I try to help them by giving them advanced study questions for reviewing the content of the course and by reviewing these materials in the last class session."
