Dear New Faculty Members:
Welcome to UC Berkeley! This is a wonderful place to be a researcher and a teacher.
During your first year, we will be sending you a series of brief email messages containing information about teaching that faculty new to Berkeley (and in some cases, new to teaching) find helpful. The email newsletter will list selected resources, helpful procedures, and teaching tips from Berkeley faculty that are relevant at various points in the semester. We'll send no more than one message a week. Of course, you may at any time opt out of receiving these messages, simply by replying to this email (remember, don't reply to "All"!)
For more general discussions of teaching at Berkeley, we encourage you to sign up for the teach-net maillist . This is a maillist only for Berkeley faculty and academic staff, who pose questions (e.g., "What do you do when a student asks you to change a grade?") and share solutions. You can more information about the list online.
Please feel free to email us with any topics you’d like to see addressed in these newsletters.
And whenever you have individual questions about teaching, or would like to consult with someone about your classes, please feel free to contact Steve Tollefson, 642-0875. Really. Call. Email. Ask.

Committee on Teaching
