Nezar AlSayyad
Architecture and City and Regional Planning

Architecture and City and Regional Planning 111: Housing: An International Survey. Lecture spring 2008.

Professor AlSayyad introduces this last formal lecture in the course as a synthesis of the prior fourteen weeks. He goes on to say that it will be about making connections between the lectures. AlSayyad takes us on a world tour from Sri Lanka to Saudi Arabia, India, Bangla Desh, Egypt, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, and Celebration Florida. On this tour he relies on architectural images from the various places as well as images of paintings and sculpture. These images, shown on a very large screen, connect beautifully with what he has to say. Professor AlSayyad weaves the lecture together using the images, historical information and wonderful antidotes to connect the current lecture to the rest of the course. The end result is a marvelously interesting and informative 75 minutes with a master teacher.
