Large Lecture Courses

Teaching at scale is a specialized form of instruction. There is a specific kind of "stage fright" that comes with a large enrollment course; the fear of the "void", that 50-minute stretch where you’re talking to a room where many students are hidden behind screens. To fix this, we have to move beyond thinking of the lecture as a "speech" and start seeing it as a choreographed social experience.
